CE marking PDF Print

The CE mark indicates that a product conforms to the essential requirements of EU directives and to the appropriate harmonized standard or the European technical approval. By affixing the mark, the manufacturer declares that his product complies with all relevant regulations.

The CE mark is a requirement prior to placing a product on the market in the European Economic Area. Acting on his own authority, the manufacturer or marketer shall affix the mark on the product or its outer packaging.

Depending on the safety relevance of a construction product, a testing, monitoring and/or certifying body must be involved in compliance with a decision by the European Commission.

By affixing the CE mark to products which are subject to the Construction Products Directive and to additional EC directives, the manufacturer declares the product’s conformance to the provisions of all relevant directives. Products bearing the CE mark may be circulated and traded freely in the EU and the EEA. As such, the CE mark is an ‘EU passport’ for construction products, as it were.

Unlike the CE mark, the ofi CERT mark is a voluntary label and a genuine symbol of quality.
